Lady Bulldogs enter holiday break with a win

ELMWOOD — The Boyceville girls basketball team traveled to Elmwood on Friday, December 21 to play the Raiders for their last game of the 2012 year.
The Raiders are now 1-4 in the Dunn-St.Croix Conference after losing to the Bulldogs 50-30.
The Bulldogs started off with a seven point lead in the first quarter. The Raiders tried to close the gap in the second after scoring 15 points, but that only put the score at 25-16 going into half time.
The Raiders lost all their momentum after the half and the Bulldogs were able to pull away and take the win after scoring 12 points in the third quarter and then 13 in the final.
April Lake dominated the court as she had one of her best games with a total of 21 points from nine deuces and she was three for four at the foul line. She also led the team in offensive rebounds with eight.
Also scoring for the Bulldogs were Kysa Franseen with eight points, Abbey Bird with six points, Michaella Kegen with five points, Brooklynn Blaser with four points and Kennedy Hellmann and Alexa Peterson each had three points.
As a team, the Bulldogs were 12 for 18 at free throws and they allowed the Raiders 11 attempts and eight of those were successful.
Blaser led the team in free throws with four out of five shots successful and she also had the team high in steals with four.
The Bulldogs have had no games over their holiday break and will resume play on Thursday, January 3 at home against the St. Croix Central Panthers and then on Tuesday, January 8 they will host the Glenwood City Hilltoppers.
