GLENWOOD CITY – With Christmas now less than a month away, the holiday festivities are getting underway in town this weekend with Holiday in the Hills.

This Friday evening will be the quarterly “Business After Five” event which will be held at Leaker’s Place starting at 5:00 p.m.

Also happening that evening will be the Tree Lighting by the Mayo Red Cedar Clinic parking lot at 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday afternoon from 10:00-12:00 the Glenwood City Library is having their Holiday Fun Open House featuring refreshments, ornament making and treat bags for the kids.

Santa Claus will also be making an appearance so bring a camera along to take your own pictures with him.

Wrapping up the weekend festivities, is the lighting of the Christmas Care Tree at the Glenhaven Nursing Home.

The tree lighting begins that evening 5:15 p.m. for those who wish to help light the tree. Following the tree lighting will be a chicken and biscuit supper with a free will donation. The actual activities for the day will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Donations are also being accepted for lights that will be placed on the tree. The lights that are available are a white one for the memory of a deceased loved one, a red or green light to express a holiday greeting to a loved one and a blue light to express a holiday greeting or memorial to anyone who is or has been in the military.

An entire string of lights is also available. The Glenhaven Auxiliary is asking a minimum of $2.50 for each light.

This is a community wide weekend of events that is welcome to everyone.
