Playing with a chance to take over the lead in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference halfway through the season, the Elk Mound boys struggled offensively as they lost 57-50 to Mondovi at home Jan. 20, then lost a real barn burner—and heart wrenching—game to Elmwood-Plum City 50-49, again on their home court three days later.

The conference wins keep coming for the Elk Mound girls as they earned a pair of them including a 55-45 win at home over Elmwood-Plum City January 13, then stayed at home and pounded the St. Croix Central Panthers 65-38 three days later.

The Elk Mound boys lost a forgettable game to Prescott 43-13 January 12 on the road, then broke a five game losing streak with a 49-35 win on the road again over the Glenwood City Hilltoppers on Saturday afternoon, January 17.

The Elk Mound girls used balanced scoring to hang on for a 59-58 home win over the Loyal Greyhounds Jan. 5, then stayed at home on a bitter cold night to host Mondovi, collecting their sixth Dunn St. Croix Conference win over the Buffaloes 50-30.
