ELK MOUND — After nearly a week off from the court, the Boyceville boys’ basketball team traveled to Elk Mound last Thursday evening, January 24, to take on the Dunn-St. Croix fourth-seeded Mounders, but things did not go well for the Bulldogs once again as the Elk Mound caged the Bulldogs 68-44 for their 11th straight loss.
Despite a 17-point performance by 5’ 7” senior guard Brendan Sempf, all but two of which came in the second half, Boyceville remained winles in Dunn-St. Croix action.
Logan Knudtson also had a strong night contributing 12 points for the Bulldogs and senior Jaden Reisimer finished with ten.
Boyceville fell behind early in the first half with a mere 19 points to Elk Mounds’ 31, and continued to play catch up in the second half putting up 25 points only to have the Mounders score 37.
Contributing to the Bulldogs point total were Connor Sempf and Cade Klefstad with a double a piece and Hunter Nye with a single bonus shot.
The Bulldogs have not won a game since the end of November when Boyceville played Prairie Farm in a non-conference contest leaving them with a 2-11 overall record and 0-8 in the D-SC.
Boyceville traveled to Plum City last evening, Tuesday, to take on the Elmwood/Plum City Wolves before returning home for a game against Mondovi on Thursday, January 31 at 5:45 p.m. prior to the girls’ game against Mondovi. The game with the Buffaloes was moved up a day from its original Friday date so Mondovi did not have to make back-to-back trips to Boyceville. The Bulldogs will be back on the road for a game in Cumberland next Tuesday, February 5.
