Local elections next Tuesday!

The Wisconsin General Election is next Tuesday, April 3rd with local city; village school board and county representatives seats open for election.

Also included in this election is a Justice for the Wisconsin Supreme County with the candidates Michael Screnock being challenged by Rebecca Dallet. The two are seeking to replace Micheal Gableman who has served on the state’s highest court since 2008. 

Michael Screnock, 48, is a judge on the Sauk County Circuit Court, while Rebecca Dallet, 48, is a Milwaukee County Circuit Judge. The term of office for a Supreme Court Judge is ten years.

Also a statewide referendum is being held that asked voters to approved a abolish the office of State Treasure.

County Board

Both Dunn and St. Croix Counties will be voting on the members to the county board. St. Croix County Supervisor District number 17, which includes Glenwood City and the Towns of Glenwood, Forest, Emerald and Cylon, only the incumbent supervisor, Judy Achterhof is on the ballot.

In District number 19, which includes the Village of Wilson, Village of Woodville and part of the Village of Spring Valley, the Towns of Springfield. Cady, Eau Galle. Here Bill Reusch is challenging William Peavey.

In Dunn County, incumbent Supervisor from District number 4, Steve Rasmussen, who also serves, as the Chairman of the board is not seeking re-election. Two names are on the ballot to replace him. They are Pamela Powers and Ronald Score. The district includes the Village of Wheeler, the Towns of Otter Creek, Hay River and part of the Town of Tiffany.

In District Number 2, incumbent David Bartlett is seeking another term on the county board. This district includes the Towns of New Haven, Sheridan and part of Tiffany. For District Number 9, Tom Quinn is running unopposed for anther term on the county Board. That district includes the Village of Downing, the Village of Knapp and the Town of Stanton.

In District Number three, which covers the Village of Boyceville and part of Hay River and Tiffany, Vaughn Hedlund is seeking re-election.

Glenwood City

Here only incumbents are seeking to be re-elected to the City Council. They are John Larson as Mayor and Peter Gaustad, Ken Peterson and Steve Lee as Council members. Other members of the City Council are: Nancy Hover, Terry Klinger and Ben DeGross.

Village of Wilson

Here one member of the Village Board is up for election and Jason Hague is the only name on the ballot.

Village of Boyceville

In the Village of Boyceville, three seats on the Village Board are up for election this year. But only two incumbents have chosen to run for another term. They are Jonathan Farrell and Keith Sorensen. Incumbent John Hillman did not seek another term. Other members of the Board are Village President Gib Krueger and Trustees Mary Lagerstrom, Bud Gilbertson and Brad Stevens.

Village of Downing

No candidate was nominated at the Village Caucus back in January. But Jeremy Nutter has stepped up and is running as a write-in candidate for Village Trustee.

Village of Wheeler

Here a contest exists for the open seat on the Village Board. Ben Stephens and Ryan Marten are seeking the two-year term.

Village of Knapp

In the Village of Knapp, five people are seeking the three open seats on the Village Board. They are Mary Berg, Missy Friest, Romona Sabottka, Jeffery Marshall and Mike Platt. Berg and Marshall are the incumbents. 

School Boards

Three people are seeking the two open seats on the Glenwood City School board. They are Lisa Logghe, Judy Achterhof and Chuck Draxler. Draxler and Achterhof are the incumbents.

For the Boyceville School Board, the two incumbents Peter Score and Erik Evenson are seeking another three year term on the board.
