LADYSMITH — The Bloomer/Colfax wrestling team followed up its seventh place finish at Eau Claire North’s invitational by hitting the mats against Ladysmith for a Heart O’ North dual.
The Blackhawks left the home of the Lumberjacks on December 15 on the low end of a 56-24 team score. Four Colfax wrestlers matched up against Ladysmith opponents during the competition.
Dalton Klukas, a Colfax sophomore, took on Lumberjack Trent Vollendorf at 120 pounds. He stretched the contest to the third period and a score of 12-4 before Vollendorf got the pin and six points for Ladysmith.
Mitchel Harmon took on Ladysmith’s Nathan Roach at 145 pounds, but Roach was credited with a fall in the second period to take another six for his team. Sophomore Tommy Anderson saw more success at 182 pounds when he got the pin on Lumberjack Rhett Stout to lift the Blackhawks by six points.
Colfax senior Cole Olson then took on Kyle Nelson and bested him in the first period with a pin for another six.
Bloomer’s Eric Wachtendonk (220) won on forfeit, and Jared Stoll (126) grabbed another six for the Blackhawks by pinning Jordan Jawarski.
The Bloomer/Colfax wrestling co-op will take to the mats one more time before Christmas when it takes on Chetek-Weyerhaeuser at Bloomer on December 22.
Between the holidays, Bloomer/Colfax will be at the Northern Badger on December 29 and 30.
