Colfax Woman’s Club receives “Jeans for a Cause” funds
COLFAX — Employees at Bremer Bank in Colfax, through “Jeans for a Cause,” have raised $255 for the Colfax Woman’s Club.
Each quarter, employees at Bremer Bank pay $5 to wear jeans on Friday, and the money that is collected is donated to an organization or community project.
Shirley Rude, representing the Colfax Woman’s Club, accepted the check for $255 October 28.
The Colfax Woman’s Club is a community service organization.
“We work on projects that will enrich the lives of the people living in Colfax and the surrounding communities,” Rude said.
The Colfax Woman’s Club completes a variety of projects during the year such as providing recognition for the EMTs, firefighters and police officers; supporting and raising funds for the Colfax Public Library; donating to the local food pantry, backpacks for Sunday program, the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center’s activity fund and the Colfax After Prom Party.
The Colfax Woman’s Club also has purchased Colfax banners for the light posts on Main Street.
During the summer months, the Colfax Woman’s Club plants and maintains the flowers at Tower Park, and during the holidays, club members grace the park with winter decorations and lights.
In the summer, the Colfax Woman’s Club is kept busy organizing and booking entertainment for the eight weeks of Thursday night Music in the Park, which brings the community together for an evening of great entertainment, visiting, and of course, concession treats.
