Skeeter the Clown coming to Colfax July 8
By LeAnn R. Ralph
COLFAX — Skeeter the Clown, who is making her away across the country ahead of the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, will be in Colfax Friday, July 8.
Skeeter will be visiting first at Kyle’s Market at 9 a.m. July 8.
Kyle Kressin, owner of Kyle’s Market, enthusiastically agreed to a visit from Skeeter at the grocery store.
“That should be a lot of fun,” Kressin said.
After her visit at Kyle’s Market, Skeeter will travel to the Colfax Fairgrounds for a 10 a.m. appearance hosted by the Colfax Commercial Club and the Colfax Public Library.
Lisa Bragg-Hurlburt, director of the Colfax Public Library, noted that under the circumstances, with the construction on the Tower Park drainage project just finishing up and the grass not yet established, it might be best to host Skeeter’s visit at the Colfax Fairgrounds.
The Colfax Municipal Building auditorium might have been a possibility for Skeeter’s visit as well, but if the weather has been hot prior to that, the auditorium might be uncomfortably warm and stuffy, and the auditorium also is not handicapped accessible.
According to information provided by the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, in her programs for groups of children, Skeeter uses history, math, Spanish, American Sign Language, listening, following directions and cooperation.
From the Colfax Fairgrounds, Skeeter will travel next to the Colfax Health and Rehabilitation Center on July 8 at 11 a.m.
Barb Stobb, CHRC activity director, says that anyone who is unable to see Skeeter at 9 a.m. at Kyle’s Market or at 10 a.m. at the Colfax Fairgrounds is more than welcome to come to Colfax Health and Rehab.
All of Skeeter’s visits in Colfax are free and open to the public.
The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will be in Colfax at the Colfax Fairgrounds July 18 with shows at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Advance tickets will go on sale soon, so keep an eye on the Messenger for places where tickets are available.
