Elk Mound baseball bounces back after loss
by Samuel Ripp
HAMMOND — The Elk Mound baseball team was back at it as they traveled to Hammond on Friday, April 22 and came home with a 9-0 victory over St. Croix Central.
The story of the game was senior pitcher Brandon Bohl who threw a no hitter in the game. Bohl went the complete seven innings without allowing a hit, but did issue three walks on the afternoon. A no hitter does not happen very often, but Bohl has been very impressive this season with his pitching.
The Mounders started the game off with a run in the top of the first, which proved to be enough with Bohl on the mound. A couple innings later they pushed another run across in the fourth and finally turned up the offense in the sixth inning by scoring seven runs, leading to a 9-0 win.
The Elk Mound bats came alive for fourteen hits on the afternoon and collecting those hits included: junior Trey Mohr with two; senior Alex Hollister; junior Hunter Adleman with three; senior Cole Tyman with three; senior Grant Kjellberg with two; senior Ryan Conlin with two; and Bohl with one.
To go along with their fourteen hits and nine runs, they had seven RBIs on the day. Adding to their season total were: Adleman, Tyman with two, Grant Kjellberg, sophomore Ethan Kjellberg, and Conlin with two.
The Mounders will look to stay hot as they get into more conference games coming up.
