Colfax track struggles at home

COLFAX — The Colfax track team was in action on Thursday, April 21 at home, but both girls and boys took last in the meet.
Boys
The boys took fifth in the meet with a total of 65.5 points on the night. Not everyone was participating in the meet due to the fact they had another one the next day. McDonell Central won the meet on the boys’ side with 170 points.
The boys had only one first place finish on the afternoon, but were lead by senior distance runner, Tucker Hovde.
Hovde took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:54.59 and second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:12.26.
Taking the lone first place finish for the Vikings was senior Hunter Lieffort in the pole vault. Lieffort cleared a height of 12-06.00. He went for thirteen feet, but was unable to clear it.
Freshman Trevor Rothbauer participated in the 300 meter hurdles for the first time and finished third with a time of 57.00. Junior sprinter Napoleon Nosker finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.36.
The boys also took second and third in the discuss with Lieffort throwing 109-05 and sophomore Spencer Herrick with a throw of 109-02.
Girls
The girls took fifth on night and finished with a total of 54 points. Boyceville won the girls’ side with a total of 156 points.
The girls also only had one first place finish on the evening. Senior Marianne Scharlau took first in the discuss with a throw of 100-11 and freshman teammate Emma Hurlburt took fourth adding a throw of 71-07.
The girls also went back to back in the shot put taking second and third. It was Scharlau with a shot of 33-00.00 ad Hurlburt with a throw of 28-06.00.
