Colfax track teams both take sixth in Arcadia

ARCADIA — The Colfax track team was in action on Friday, April 22 at the Schultz Invitational in Arcadia. Both the boys and girls took home sixth place on the afternoon.

Girls

The girls finished with a total of 62 points on the night and it was Viroqua taking home the top spot with a total of 139.50 points.

The girls were able to take home a couple of first place finishes on the afternoon in the 800-meter run and the 4 x 800-meter relay team.

Senior Dempsey Fogarty took first in the 800 with a winning time of 2:21.79 and the 4 x 800-meter relay team had a winning time of 10:12.24.

Also finishing at the top half was junior Ally Heidorn in the 100 and 200-meter dash. Heidorn took fourth in both events and had a time of 13.32 in the 100 and 28.04 in the 200-meter dash.

Fogarty also took third in the long jump with a distance of 15-03.00.

Others also set personal bests on the day which included: Ally Heidorn in the 100 with a time of 13.56; Bryana Buchanan in the 100 with a time of 13.89; Emma Hurlburt in the 400 getting her time down to 1:09.92; Hailey Prince also in the 400 with a time of 1:10.55; and Jezz Tweed in the 800 knocking her time down to 3:07.45.

Boys

The boys finished the day with a total of 56 points which put them in sixth, but it was West Salem taking the crown for the boys with 158.50 points.

The boys did not have anyone on the afternoon finish first, but had a few second place finishes. Taking second in the meet was senior Hunter Lieffort and senior Isaac Lee.

Lieffort finished second in the pole vault clearing 12-00.00 and Lee secured the runner up spot in the triple jump with a distance of 40-11.00.

Following a couple of second place finishes, the boys also added a couple of third place finishes as well with the 4 x 200-meter relay team and in the 200-meter dash.

The relay team finished with a time of 1:37.85 and it was senior Jacob Steinke in the 200 with a time of 24.01.

Junior Jacob Larson cruised into a fifth place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:12.87 helping his team to the sixth place finish on the day.

Setting new personal bests on the day for the boys included: Alex Knudson in the 400 with a time of 56.37; Trevor Rothbauer in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 56.82; and Aliymu Davis in the long jump flying a distance of 18-03.00.

The whole track team will look to improve on their scores from the Schultz Invitational as they move forward in the year. Head Coach Ryan Krall was very pleased on how his team fair with the tough competition on the day.

“Our kids exceeded expectations yet again as we have worked them very hard in practice as we approach the final month of our season,” stated Krall.

NOTE: At the Arcadia event there was a problem with the camera timing system. To make the following stats accurate, .24 seconds needs to be added to each running event time.
