By Samuel Ripp

ELK MOUND — The first baseball game of the season could not have gone any better for the Mounders as they ran past Chetek-Weyerhaeuser by a score of 10-0 that finished after five innings on Thursday, April 7 at the Elk Mound Village Park.

The highlight of the game came on the mound where senior pitcher Brandon Bohl threw a perfect game. Very rarely do you see a perfect game at any level of competition, but Bohl completed the five inning game with no hits or walks and struck out twelve. Bohl also helped his own cause at the plate as he picked up an RBI of his own.

With Bohl doing his job on the mound, the bats were also hot in this game with the Mounders collecting ten hits which they turned into ten runs.

Elk Mound got the scoring kicked off in the third inning scoring one, then added five more in the fourth.

The Mounders were not done though, as they put four more scores on the board in the fifth to make ten-run the Bulldogs and end the game in five innings.

Junior Trey Mohr led the team at the plate collecting three hits and driving in two runs. Mohr also scored two runs and finished the first game with a .750 batting average.

Senior third baseman Grant Kjellberg also had a very big day at the plate collecting two hits and picking up four RBIs. He was on base three out of four times including taking a walk at one at bat.

Three more players picked up their first RBIs of the year, they went to junior outfielder, Hunter Adleman; junior second baseman, Carter Pritchard; and senior catcher, Cole Tyman.

Other Mounders picking up their first hits of the season were sophomore first baseman, Ethan Kjellberg; and outfielder, Ryan Conlin.
