Colfax track teams still trying to find their stride at St. Croix Central invite

HAMMOND — The Vikings boys’ and girls’ track and field teams were in action at the St. Croix Central Invite held Thursday, April 7 at St. Croix Central High School with the the girls placing sixth and the boys tenth.
The Colfax girls’ 4 x 800 meter relay team captured the Vikings’ lone first-place finish in the meet.
Erica Kallstrom and Ally Heidorn respectively took second and third in the 800 meter run to help the girls finish sixth as a team with 38 points in the 12-team invite.
Saint Croix Falls won the girls’ competitions with 75 points with St. Croix Central finishing a close second with 71 points. The St. Croix Central boys’ team came out on top with 115 points with Prairie Farm and Ellsworth were the runners up with 47 points.
The Lady Vikings had a few top three finishers in the meet, but only one team came out withled by its top-finishing relay.
The team of Courtney Dressel, Erica Kallstrom, Abbagail Schotter, and Dempsey Fogarty won the 4 x 800 with a time of 10:30.52.
Freshman Erica Kallstrom finished second in the girls 800 meter run with a time of 2:42.41. Her junior teammate, Ally Heidorn, was right on her heals finishing third being timed at 2:44.02.
A second-place finish went to senior Courtney Dressel in the 3200 meter run being clocked at 13:36.05.
The girls also placed in the 4 x 200 meter relay, taking sixth as did Abbagail Schotter in the 1600 meter run.
Although the boys did not have any individual winners, they had a couple of third place finishers.
Junior Jacob Larson was one of two, third place finishers for the Vikings. He captured a third in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:14.05. The other third place finish was turned in by the boys’ 4 x 100 meter relay.
Senior Tucker Hovde was just .70 behind teammate Jacob Larson in the 800 meter run to take fourth in the event. He also competed in the 1600 meter run taking fifth in the event.
Junior Aliymu Davis took sixth in the 100 meter dash, while sophomore teammate Adam Pretasky came in a couple spots behind him in ninth.
In long distance running, sophomore Jacob Jensen, took tenth in the 3200 meter run.
