Colfax boys lose on the road to Elmwood-Plum City
In a match up between last year’s co-conference champions, the Colfax boys came out on the short end when they lost 75-66 to Elmwood-Plum City Jan. 22. The game, which was the Vikings’ only contest of the week, was played in Plum City and left them with a 3-4 conference record and a 4-8 overall record.
Brett Prince scored a career high 21 points which included six triples for the Vikings but the Colfax defense couldn’t shut the Wolves’ Hunter Schoengarth down as he tallied 29 points himself.
“The basket was looking pretty big to me when I hit the three pointers,” Prince said. “We were down by seven at the half and tied it up halfway through the second half but we just couldn’t get enough stops on defense. We played hard and it was a good effort by our team but we just came up short,” he added.
Kedar Davis scored 17 points, Aliymu Davis added 10, Jacob Larson nine, Andrew Harmon eight and George Scharlau one for the Colfax scoring.
Things won’t get any easier for Colfax when they take on Mondovi at home this Thursday, Fall Creek at home in a Saturday night game and Durand at home Feb. 2. Durand is leading the conference and was beaten by Mondovi last week.
