Colfax golf team competes in regional meet

After sitting through a three hour rain delay caused by a steady rainfall, the Colfax golf team, along with eight other teams managed to get through the regional meet held at the Luck Golf Course May 27.

Although the Vikings were last team wise, Trevor Seston qualified for the sectional meet at Lake Wissota by finishing third as an individual who was not on the top two teams. Trey Gullickson was only three shots off from advancing with his seventh individual place. The team title went to Dunn St. Croix Conference champs Glenwood City.

Seston shot a round of 96 for the 18 holes while Gullickson came in at 106 followed by Trenton Anderson at 148, Andrew Buckley at 166 and Bryce Fransway at 169. Hilltopper Nick Mrdutt was the medalist with a score of 77.

“Our first group was on hole six when the rain delay was called because one of the holes was under water,” coach Vince Ross said. “The players had to deal with standing water and mosquitos after the rain stopped. Trevor was able to refocus on the back nine and played pretty solid and ended up moving on to sectionals. The staff at the golf course did a great job of working to get the tournament in,” he added.
