Sand Creek Chatter – 3-12-2014

Former Sand Creek resident, Gerald Madison celebrated his 94th birthday at the Maplewood in Bloomer on Thursday, March 6th. In fact, he had several parties with children coming to celebrate his birthday.

 Jean Hanson brought home baking for the Royal Rangers, a Christian Boy Scout Group at Harvestime Church in Eau Claire on March 7. Karl Hanson directed the event on that same evening. Karl’s girls, Madi and Lexi went home with Grandma Jean to stay overnight.

Inez Schrader celebrated her 90th birthday on Tuesday, March 11 and we wish her a good year ahead with more to come.

Barb and Cork Van Doorn of Tony, WI visited Gene and Bonnie Peterson on Friday, March 7.

Watch your calendar for the first Saturday in April, which is April 5, for the regular monthly Bluegrass entertainers. Two weeks after that date, the High View Bluegrass band will entertain at the Grace Room in Sand Creek on April 19.

The staff of the Sand Creek library has been actively doing Spring cleaning so they currently have books and movies in the hallway for sale. Proceeds from these sales will go to the “Friends of the Library”.

Carol Redmann had a great time visiting her daughter, Kim Harthum and her two grandchildren, Avery and Gabe at Appleton from Monday, March 3 until Mar. 6th. Kim’s husband was away on a business trip.

Jerry and Sandy Timm recently returned from an extended weekend trip to Palm Springs, CA, where they visited with their son Eric. It was their first chance to see Eric and Tim’s new home there. Despite experiencing one of very few rainy spells in the desert, they enjoyed several fine restaurants, a tram ride, and lazy hours in the sun around the backyard pool. On a one day overlap, the four of them met Kenny and Sharon Nelson for an evening out before the Nelsons returned to Sand Creek.

Kenny and Sharon Nelson took their grandsons, Brody and Bryce Killoren to the Sand Creek Café for noon lunch on Friday, March 7. The boys are enjoying Spring break.

Paul and Lou Ann Gilberts visited Pastor Marshall and Joy Hall at their home in Eau Claire on Friday, March 7. Paul and Lou Ann had noon lunch with Don Litchfield in Eau Claire. Enroute home they stopped to visit Ray and Ardith Gilberts and their daughters Judy and Joyce.

On Sunday, March 9th, Paul and Lou Ann Gilberts, along with Jimmy and Krista Mars and sons, Sam and Taylor attended the Auto Show in the Twin Cities.

Debbie Johnson returned to her home in Baldwin on Thursday, March 6 after spending a few days with Brenda Espeseth helping her get settled in her new apartment.
