Sand Creek Chatter – 1-20-2014
Harlan and Lana Anderson had family members home on Christmas Day, Marc, Kristen, Issac and Luke Anderson and Beth and Adam Kirby. On Friday, December 27 Harlan and Lana hosted a dinner for Glenn and Margie Anderson, Norma Klimpke, Sandy Anderson, and Sharon Hegna.
On Friday, January 17 Judy Reetz attended her grandson, Brayden Wolf’s graduation at Elmwood, WI for the D.A.R.E. program. Brayden, a 5th grader, won the essay competition entitled, “Professional Athletes and their Misuse of Steroids”.
Christmas is winding down. We miss the beautiful lighting that Dick and Elaine Clemmens provided for area residents to enjoy each evening during the Christmas Season on their front yard.
Lance Loftus has been attending classes for Firefighter #1 held at Prairie Farm. On Jan. 18 they experienced the burning of a barn, a part of live-barn training. Each of the 15 students had to take turns with two on a team in trying to put the fire out. Following the class the students will take the Firefighter #2 class.
Nancy Erickson has returned home, where she will continue healing from her December 16 accident. She may require surgery on a badly injured left knee.
Sympathy is extended to Merline Rufledt, husband Norm and family members in the passing of her mother, Selma Lee. Funeral is taking place in her hometown in Iowa. Norm and Merline will be returning to Sand Creek sometime this week.
Tom and Caryl Schoen hosted Christmas for all their family on January 18th and 19th including their children and spouses, engaged friends, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Hannah Gustum, the daughter of Tom and Sue Gustum, became the bride of Tyler Mansmith, at a 1:30 p.m. ceremony held at Independent Bible Church on Saturday, January 18th, followed by a reception at the Senior Center in Sand Creek. Pastor Steven Hurd and Pastor Bob Koepp were the officiating pastors.
Lacey Loftus has been spending time at home with her parents and also with a friend Kaley Knowlton, who is visiting from North Carolina.
Birthday congratulations are extended to Elaine Toycen who celebrated her “90th” birthday with all family members present in Mesa, AZ. Her party was January 17th. “Happy Birthday Elaine”.
Rocky Thompson from Minocqua visited his mother Sue Piotrowski from Sunday, January 12 until Tuesday, January 14. He kept busy shoveling snow.
The Seeger Boys Family Bluegrass had a big turn-out with a full house at the Grace Room in the Old School on January 18.
Jean Hanson took her three grandaughters, Nicole, Madi and Lexi Hanson, to watch Ryan Hanson play basketball at Barron where Ryan’s Chetek J.V. team won the game on Friday evening January 17. Jean brought Madi and Lexi to Eau Claire for church on Sunday a.m. They stayed over with Grandma Jean on Saturday evening. Nicole had stayed over on Friday evening.
Louie and Judy Reetz are the proud grandparents of a new baby girl. She was born January 13, 2014. Parents are John and Jacqueline Welch of Madison. The new baby, Audrey Elizabeth joins big brother, Jacob, who is two years old.
Herb and Doris Tallman had dinner in Holcombe with Herb’s sister, Rita Burpo on Sunday, January 12.
Jean Hanson stopped to see Floy Ann Lofthus on Monday evening, January 13. Wendy and Chad Lauterbach, Kylie and Zach Zwieferlhofer had supper with Floy Ann on Tuesday evening, January 14. Another pleasant time was celebrating Wendy’s birthday on January 5, when they went out to eat. Family went out with Floy Ann.
