Colfax Health and Rehab – 12-11-2013

It’s “Beginning to look a lot like Christmas”. This week we were busy preparing for the Holiday season. The resident party invitations were mailed on Monday. Boxes and tubs, bags and bundles were taken into the Square.

Christmas elves were busy decorating. The “Big” Christmas tree in the Square has resident’s ornaments from the past and present. The tree in the East Ridge dining room was decorated by one of the high school cheerleaders, Casandra Jackson. The tree has an upbeat modern look and is topped with a Santa Hat! The Sandy Ridge apartments’ tree has a silver, blue, and snowflakes theme. One of the residents put her poinsettia afghan on the davenport. “Now” she said “it looks just like home”. The residents and staff in Ridge Crest Manor decorated their tree in a traditional theme. Every tree is distinctive and beautifully decorated.

Tuesday morning Dick told us it would be a Christmas Miracle if the Love Light Star would be installed in time for our Love Light program on Thursday. The “Miracle Men” from the Village arrived in the ice/snow storm. Jim Herrick, Randy Bates, Tom Moen and Dick arrived with the city’s lift-it-up machine and installed the Star. Great job guys!

Pastor Schroetter from Barum & Big Elk Creek, in Elk Mound led the Church service on Wednesday morning. Delores Huber played the piano. The world was frozen and cold outside, but they warmed our hearts.

Our Love Light program on Thursday was a success. Residents enjoyed Bingo on Tuesday and Friday, volleyball along with Rex Class and lots of conversations and cookies.

Glen, Julie and Delores led the Gospel sing Friday morning. Linnea, Veda, Leona Ubbelohde, Taek, Merle and Lee were here this week to help and visit with residents.

Next week we are looking forward to our regularly scheduled programs PLUS the High School choirs concert in the afternoon on Monday The 4-H Comets are coming to Christmas Carol that evening as well. Penny’s Dance Studio’s rendition of the Nutcracker Suite will be performed on Saturday. What a wonderful week here in the land of Colfax where the Star will shine all thru the holidays reminding us of the reason for the season.
