Tribune captures three WNA state awards for graphic design work

MADISON — Annually during March the Wisconsin Newspaper Association holds it’s convention and Better Newspaper Contest in Madison.

The Tribune Press Reporter’s design expert, Carole Schurtz, collected three awards for the Tribune Press Reporter in this year’s contest.

Schurtz received a second place award for “Best Small Ad” for her design of a front page banner advertising for Keyes Chevytown.

She received two third place awards, one for the “Best Large Ad” which was a full-page ad of 2024 State Wrestling Champion, Wyatt Unser. The other was the “Best Use of Art Service”, for the Christmas ad done for Jamie’s Buck-Shot Bar in Boyceville.

The awards were presented on Friday, March 7 at a banquet held at the Concourse Hotel and Banquet Center in downtown Madison.

Former Glenwoodite, Ray Rivard received a first place award for investigative reporting about a group of local citizens who spent thousands of dollars on the nonpartisan county board election in Polk County. Rivard was reporting for the Amery Free Press.
