COLFAX — This year on the 2024-2025 Colfax High School Dance Team, there were a total of fourteen members (four freshmen, five sophomores, three juniors, and two seniors), coached by Megan Cormican who took over the team as head coach two years ago. She was assisted by Felisha Dupey, a first-year coach.
Dance is broken into two seasons, fall football season and winter competition season.
During the competition season, the Colfax Dance Team focuses on two types of dance: Pom and Hip Hop. To stay competitive in the competition dance realm, hiring a choreographer was necessary. This year (and for many years to come) the squad worked with CJ Choreography. CJ Choreography is run by Carly Rudesill out of Kaukauna, WI. To learn the competition pom and hip hop choreography, the dancers partook in a two-day choreography dance camp.
The team competed at the Menomonie Holiday Classic, UW Eau Claire Fire Up, Conference (held at Eau Claire North), and Regionals (held at D.C. Everest). At the competitions, senior Olivia Johnson and junior Janica Larson competed in solo routines, as well as the duet of senior Kiyorii Lowery and junior Regan Tuschl.
This was an exciting year for the high school team, not only did it win the Dunn-St. Croix Conference title (based on combined scores), but also qualified for the State Dance Competition in La Crosse for D6 Pom!
