EAU CLAIRE — The Bloomer-Colfax wrestling team traveled to Eau Claire North High School Saturday, December 14 for the annual Husky Invitational.
The Raptors scored 95 points to finish 17th in the 28-team tournament. St. Michael-Albertville, MN won the meet with a score of 558 points, Kaukana took second with a 523.5, Simley, MN scored a 380 to take third, Menomonie came in fourth after scoring 329.5 and Auburndale wrapped up a top five finish with a 321.
Individually, Drew Ryder scored 34 of his team’s points as he placed fourth at 120 pounds with a 2-2 mark. Ryder (7-2 on the season), scored a first-period pin over Carter Goodman of Menomonie in the opening round and won a 4-2 decision in the quarterfinals against Wisconsin Rapid’s Deegan Armagost. In the semifinals, Ryder lost 7-3 to Burlington’s Evan Gill and then lost via a technical fall (17-1) to Nick Jenkins of Kaukana in the third-place match.
Several other Raptor wrestlers competed and placed. Zeke Anderson (126) placed eighth, Blake Sparrgrove (132) took 11th, Lowvin Hladilek (106) finished 12th, Mason Smith (138) and Aiden Poirier (157) both took 15th and Dyllon Zwiefelhofer (144) and Cole Parzyck (150) each finished 16th.
