RICE LAKE — The Boyceville cross country teams competed at the very large Rice Lake Invitational, that featured over 1,000 runners, held on the UW-Eau Claire Barron Campus on September 17 amid hot and humid weather conditions and hundreds of runners from schools ranging in size from Hudson to Prairie Farm.
In the varsity girls’ 5K race, Boyceville placed 11th out of 24 teams with a score of 314. The Bloomer team won the competition with a score of 71. Ciara Hartman, a sophomore on the Bloomer team placed first with a soul crushing time of 17:47.80, the second place finisher, Macie Boe of Amery, had a time of 19:36.90.
Freshman Blake Jeske was the first lady bulldog to cross the finish line with a time of 22:24.20, she placed 34th out of 173 runners. Fellow freshman, Brooklyn Talmage was the second runner for the girls’ team placing 51st with a time of 23:22.70.
Junior Halle Tonn was the third lady bulldog to finish the race with a time of 23:26.60, which was good for 54th place. Ellie Engeman was the teams’ fourth runner with a time of 25:11.60. With a time of 27:13.70 sophomore Sidney Larson was the teams’ fifth runner, she placed 127th.
The bulldog boys’ team placed 26th out of 27 teams with a score of 619. Hudson won the boys’ competition with a score of 78. Seth Rogge, a junior from Bloomer, won first place in the race with a time of 16:06.30.
Senior Michael Montgomery led the team with a time of 20:30.60 which earned him 99th place out of 206 runners. Isaac Williams, a junior, was the teams’ second runner with a time of 21:13.80 he placed 117th.
Sophomore Nicholas Keely and junior Forest Bettendorf placed 139th and 140th and were the third and fourth runners for the team with times of 21:54.90 and 22:13.90 respectively. Rounding out the scoring members of the team was freshman Riley Naughton who placed 154th with a time of 22:46.10.
Middle School
In the middle school 3k race the Boyceville girls’ team placed third out of 22 teams scoring 155 points. The Chippewa Falls team took first with a score of 47. The first place runner was eighth grader Kylee Kolinski of Chippewa Falls with a time of 11:40.
The first runner for the Boyceville middle school girls’ team was Katie Maska who placed ninth with a time of 12:52.90 out of 248 runners. Coming in second for the Boyceville team was Brielle Jeske with a time of 13:07.10 which was good for 15th place.
Raven Naughton was the teams’ third runner placing 25th, Boston Sutliff was the team’s fourth runner placing 43rd and Kendall Pomasl was the fifth runner placing 75th.
In the middle school boys competition the bulldogs placed fifth with a score of 164. Rice Lake took first with a score of 83. Ashton Rogge of Bloomer was the first middle school boy to cross the finish line with a time of 10:49.20.
Clayton Score was the first teammate to finish the race, he placed fifth out of 237 runners with a time of 11:09.80. Clyde Score was the teams’ second runner. He placed 27th with a time of 12:11.40.
Zac Tonn, Easton Lange and Easton Retz rounded out the teams’ score placing 46th, 47th and 52nd.
