The Colfax-Elk Mound girls’ golf team continued to dominate play in the CloverCroix Conference as last week’s nine-hole meets.
The squad also finished in the middle of its own 18-hole tournament, the Northwest Classic, hosted at Whitetail Golf Course last Wednesday, September 11.
Defending WIAA Division 2 state champion, junior Belle Kongshaug, also continues to dominate despite still recovering from “golfers elbow” earlier this summer, a condition that causes pain where the tendons of the forearm muscles attach to the bony bump on the inside of the elbow. The pain can spread into your forearm and wrist. Kongshaug has finished as the medalist (golfer with the lowest score) in every meet this season including all three meets last week.
Currently, Kongshaug and Colfax-Elk Mound sit atop their respective leader boards in conference play.
With its most recent CloverCroix victories, Colfax-Elk Mound and Kongshaug have now finished first in all of the conference’s nine-hole meets this season.
The squad participated in an eight-school tournament at Turtleback Golf Course in Rice Lake on Monday. Colfax-Elk Mound then has back-to-back conference match at Valley Golf Course in Mondovi on Tuesday and Thursday.
The final two, nine-hole CloverCroix meets will take place next Monday, September 23 at Cadott’s Whispering Pines Golf and Tuesday, September 24 at the Osseo Golf Course. The 18-hole conference tournament is scheduled at the Lake Hallie Golf Course on Thursday, September 26.
