Jeanette Hydukovich continues to win shot and discus, sets new school records

DURAND — At the Durand-Arkansaw track and field invitational held last Friday, May 3 at Bauer Built Stadium, the Colfax girls team placed fifth with 73.5 points and the boys placed seventh with a score of 52. The Durand girls and the Baldwin-Woodville boys won their competitions against nine teams.
The girls scored the most points in discus by taking first, second and fourth place. Seniors Jeanette Hydukovich and Kennedy Shane won first and second place, respectivley, with throws of 134 feet 7 inches and 103 feet 4 inches. While sophomore Clara Hydukovich earned fourth place with a throw of 101 feet 3 inches.
Jeanette Hydukovich and Shane also placed in shot put. Jeanette won the event with a throw of 38 feet 6.75 inches while Shane earned some more points for her team with a fourth place finish throwing the shot 32 feet 2 inches.
Both top throws by Jeanette Hydukovich established new school records in the shot put and discus which were also previously held by the Viking senior.
The Viking girls were second place finishers in the 4×800 meter relay. Two other teammates also placed second; they were junior Hannah Peterson in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:05.72 and junior Kaysen Goodell in the half mile run with a time of 2 minutes 31.17 seconds. Hannah also placed sixth in the half mile with a time of 2 minutes 55.17 seconds.
Some more points were scored by junior Lauren Becker who placed third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.13 seconds and fifth in pole vault with a leap of 7 feet.
In the boys competition, junior Theo Hovde brought in the most points by placing first in the 200 meter with a time of 23.97 seconds, second in the 400 meter run with a time of 53.4 seconds and fifth in long jump with a jump of 18 feet 3 inches.
Also in long jump junior Logan Swartz placed third with a leap of 19 feet 11 inches. He placed sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.55 seconds and seventh in the 400 meter run with a time of 58.92 seconds.
A fifth place was earned in shot put by freshman James Wahl with a throw of 36 feet 9.25 inches. Another fifth place finish went to the 4×200 relay team who had a time of 1 minute and 50.12 seconds and the 4×400 relay team placed third with a time of 3 minutes and 50.63 seconds.
Sophomore Charlie Charbonneau placed sixth in the half mile run with a time of 2 minutes and 12.11 seconds and seventh in the mile run with a time of 5 minutes 6.42 seconds.
