Following a week off, Boyceville found mixed results when it returned to the wrestling mat this past week.
The Bulldogs traveled to Mondovi Thursday, January 18 where it improved to 2-0 in Dunn-St. Croix duals following a 57-21 victory over Mondovi/Eleva-Strum.
Unfortunately, Boyceville was unable to build on that success when it participated in the highly competitive St. Croix Falls Invitational two days later. Sophomore Zach Hellendrung was the Bulldogs lone varsity wrestler to place in the January 20 event, taking the bronze medal at 215 pounds.
Boyceville competed in the 8-team Beaver Dam Slam Tuesday in Cumberland.
On Thursday, the Bulldogs make the short trip to Glenwood City for the annual dual with the Hilltoppers who are the two-time defending Dunn-St. Croix wrestling champs. The outcome will likely determined who wears this year’s crown. Wrestling is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
