High speed chase on I-94 in Dunn Co.

DUNN COUNTY — At 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2023 a crash occurred on Interstate 94 eastbound in Dunn County near Menomonie.

The details of the crash are as follows:

The Wisconsin State Patrol, Northwest Region, Eau Claire Post received information from the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Department (MN) regarding a carjacking that occurred in St. Paul, MN. A firearm was implied, but not displayed. Ramsey County was tracking the vehicle eastbound on Interstate 94 in Dunn County. 

A State Trooper located the vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 94 near milepost 39 in Dunn County. The Trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. 

The vehicle exited the Interstate east of Menomonie, but eventually continued eastbound on Interstate 94. A State Patrol Inspector performed a pursuit intervention technique on the fleeing vehicle near milepost 59 in Eau Claire County. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Dunn County Jail.

Assisting agencies included the Dunn County Sheriff’s Department, Menomonie Police Department, and Eau Claire Sheriff’s Department.

The crash involved no fatalities or injuries.
