DeMar to participate in Petal It Forward

Downing — Nicole DeMar of Flowers by Nicole will join florist from across the nation on Wednesday, October 18th when she partakes in Petal It Forward, a nationwide goodwill initiative. This program started eight years ago by the Society of American Florist, however this will be DeMar’s first year participating. 

DeMar decided to participate to get more involved with the community. “I take it for granted that people know I’m here” remarked DeMar but she states that’s not always the case.

The premise behind Petal It Forward is that that the florist will randomly handout two bouquets of flowers to unsuspecting people, urging them to keep one and share the other with someone else. The Society of American Florists’ website states: “It’s a powerful way to illustrate the positive health benefits of giving and receiving flowers. Science has proven that flowers reduce stress and anxiety and make people happy.”

Demar plans to be in both Downing and Glenwood City on the 18th. If you are lucky enough to receive two bouquets, don’t be hesitant in passing one on to somebody else to brighten their day. Can’t think of anyone? Then perhaps think about giving it to an elderly friend or a resident at Glenhaven; your child’s teacher; that special waitress; a caregiver or a first responder, the options are limitless.
