After a 1-8 start, the Boyceville softball team has won four straight including a pair of Dunn-St. Croix contests last week.
Last Monday, April 24, the Lady Bulldogs pelted the Wolves of Elmwood-Plum City 11-1 in a contest played on Boyceville’s home field. They followed that up three days later, when they traveled to Colfax and slipped past the Vikings 8-7 to improve to 5-8 on the season.
Boyceville had a pair of early home games this week as it hosted Spring Valley Monday and Colfax on Tuesday. The Bulldogs are at Elk Mound Thursday and return home for a non-conference game versus Turtle Lake/Clayton on Friday. Next Monday, May 8, league-leading Mondovi plays in Boyceville.
Elmwood-Plum City
Although Boyceville only outhit visiting Elmwood-Plum City eight to seven in their April 24 conference contest, six of those Bulldog bashes went for extra bases and carried the hosts to an 11-1 win in six innings.
Hannah Dunn went 2-for-3 with a home run and a double and two runs scored, Kaitlyn Mittlestadt also had a home run among her two hits as she finished with three RBIs and Zoey Hellendrung and Olivia Ponath each finished the game with a double.

While Boyceville’s offense, which scored four runs in the first, five in the second and single runs in the fourth and sixth innings, was hitting the ball long and far, Ali McRoberts was throwing pitches that kept the Wolves’ batters off balance. McRoberts allowed just a single run on seven hits to earn the complete game win. She finished with a pair of Ks and gave up only two walks.
Colfax
It was a close contest from start to finish with the Bulldogs scoring two runs in the second inning and the Vikings picking up single runs in the third and fourth innings to knot it at 2-2.
Colfax pulled ahead with two runs in the fifth. The lead didn’t last however, as Boyceville tied it with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth inning.
In the top of the seventh, the Bulldogs loaded the bases with two outs, and a hard smash to Colfax pitcher was snared but the Bulldog runner beat the throw to first, allowing Boyceville to pull ahead 5-4.
With their backs against the wall in the bottom of the seventh, Colfax’s Audrey Ebert smacked an RBI double to tie the game.
Boyceville managed to load the bases in the top of the eighth and scored three runs on a walk, a wild pitch and a fly ball tag up before the Vikings could get the third out.
Trailing 8-5, Colfax tried to come back once again scoring two runs before a ground out ended the game.
Colfax out hit Boyceville 13 to 8.
Delaney Olson was the only Bulldog to finish with multiple hits going 2-for-5 at the plate with a run scored. Olson also stole two bases. Kaitlyn Mittlestadt came up with a double for her only hit and drew a pair of walks. Hannah Dunn, Zoey Hellendrung, Jadynn Traxler, Cora Leslie and Cambrie Reisimer each had a single in the game.
Boyceville pitcher Ali McRoberts threw all eight innings in the circle to get the win. She allowed eight runs on as many hits allowing eight walks and finishing with a strikeout.
