Scharlau, Burcham-Scofield have successful collegiate 2022-23 seasons on hard court

A pair of Colfax graduates have completed their 2023 basketball seasons for their respective teams.
George Scharlau, after playing two years at Concordia-St. Paul, transferred to UW-Stout this season. Listed as a junior on the Stout roster, Scharlau started all 25 games for the Division 3 Blue Devils who finished 5-20 overall and 1-13 in the WIAC Conference. Scharlau led the team in three point shots with 43 of 117 for a 36 percent average, shot 84 percent from the free throw line which was the highest percentage for the team and was third in scoring with 281 points. He snared 159 rebounds to lead in that department, was second in steals with 24 and third in blocked shots with 20.
2022 Colfax graduate Emilee Burcham-Scofield took her talents to Division 3 Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. She played in all 27 games as a freshman for the Norse and scored 56 points which included five triples and 11-of-16 free throws. She pulled down 58 rebounds, added 35 assists with 22 steals.
The Norse finished 14-13 for the season and 8-8 in the American Rivers Conference. They defeated the University of Iowa, Dubuque to get into the playoffs and won their first game against Coe College but lost to Wartburg College to end the season.
