RIVER FALLS — With plenty of snow still on the ground, the Colfax track team stayed indoors to compete in a field of 16 teams at the University of River Falls Invitational March 30. There were teams from Division 1, 2 and 3 from Wisconsin as well as several from Minnesota in the meet.
Molly Heidorn took first place in the 800 m run with 46 runners competing, and second in the 1600 m run among 31 runners, and Jeanette Hydukovich copped a first place among 94 throwers in the shot put to lead the Viking girls.
Other places were Ava Sedivy 56th in the 60 m dash and 99th in the 200 m dash. Hannah Peterson finished 21st in the 400 m run while Janica Larson was 38th in the same race. Kaysen Goodell was seventh in the 800 m run with Peterson behind her in 12th and Larson in 30th. Goodell was also sixth in the 1600.
Kennedy Shane placed fourth in the shot put with Clara Hydukovich in 44th, Jennifer Maves in 58th, Karyn DeLorge in 64th and Rosie Sonnentag in 66th.
For the boys, Nick Jensen placed fifth in the shot put with 85 throwers in the competition while Theo Hovde was 10th in the 400 m dash and 12th in the 200 m dash. Charlie Charboneau took a 10th in the 800 m run and 17th in the 400 m run, Ashton Yarrington placed 12th in the 1600 and 13th in the 800 runs and Logan Swartz was 18th in the long jump.
Also competing were shot putters Skylar Maves (18th), John Riebe (44th), Nate Edwards (48th) and Drake Knutson (59th).Swartz was also 45th in the 400 m run. Sprinter Mihretu Emch ran the 60 m dash and placed 97th and was 108th in the 200 m dash. Elijah Obermueller also ran both sprints and took 131st in the 60 and 125th in the 200 and Riebe was 109th in the 200.
