ELK MOUND — The Elk Mound Village Board has authorized the purchase of a laptop computer for the village clerk-treasurer’s office.
The laptop will be used to work remotely at home or for training purposes and will be especially useful because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the village board learned at the January 3 meeting.
A few years ago, the cost of a laptop would have been $1,200 to $1,500, but the price has come down, and the laptops today have more capabilities, noted Steven Abraham, village president.
The cost of the laptop computer will be split between the general fund and the water and sewer utilities.
The Elk Mound Village Board unanimously approved a motion to purchase the laptop at a cost not to exceed $700.
Communications
During the communications section of the agenda, Abraham reminded people who are walking at night in the village to be wearing reflector vests, belts and/or flashers so they are visible to people who are driving.
The reminder will be included in the Elk Mound newsletter, too, he said.
Abraham reminded drivers to be vigilant as well when it is dark and when it is foggy.
“It’s a two-sided deal,” he said.
Other business
In other business, the Elk Mound Village Board approved a bartender operator’s license for Virginia Thomas (The Pourhouse).
