Despite a heated campaign, Incumbents remain in office in Forest Township
The St. Croix County Township of Forest was the only area municipality that had a full slate of candidate for the Town Board. At question here was the campaign to stop the proposed windmill farm that has been an effort by the current town board.
And, apparently, voters in Forest felt that the town board should continue their present course as they returned the two board members and the Town Chair in Tuesday, April 6th election.
Jamie Junker retained the top spot on the Town Board over Roger Swanepoel by a vote count of 160 to 85.
The same was true for the two seats on the Town Board as incumbent Laverne Hoitomt and Todd Ostberg retained their seats over challengers Bruce Fouks and Lee Tellijohn.
The vote count was Hoitomt collecting 152 and Ostberg getting 141 while Fouks and Tellijohn collecting 82 votes each.
For Town Treasurer, Nikki Sunday received 217 votes and Anne Johnston got 213 for Town Clerk. Both were running unopposed.
New Village President Chosen in Boyceville
Gilbert Krueger, who has served as Village of Boyceville President since 2008 was turn away from that position by voters last Tuesday. They replaced him with current Village Trustee, Lukas Montgomery. The vote total gave Montgomery 157 to Krueger’s 36.
For the three open seats the Village board, Montgomery got 168 votes, Brad Stevens 138 votes and Sonya Zebro got 115. But, if Montgomery takes the Village Presidents position, then the Village board will have to appoint a person to fill that open seat.
Boyceville School Board has a tie for second open seat
There were three people seeking the two open seats on the Boyceville School board. Here incumbents Erik Evenson and Peter Score were being challenged by Amber Carlsrud. Carlsrud collected 509 votes in unofficial election count. But, Evenson and Score each got 443 votes. After the votes were certified, Evenson won the tie-breaker.
Glenwood City School Board will have a new member
With unofficial results of Tuesday’s April 6th election, the Glenwood City School Board will have one new person on the seven-person board. The three candidates for the two open seats were Nate Simmons, Jodi Main and Chuck Draxler. Simmons and Draxler were the incumbents. The vote totals gave Main 424 votes, Draxler 361 and Simmons 294.
City of Glenwood City
Randall G. Ketola will be the new face at the City Council table after the April 6th election. Ketola and incumbents Austin Sandow and Ben DeGross were elected for a two-year term over a write-in campaign staged by Scott Schone.
DeGross received 122 votes, Ketola 117, and Sandow 100 with Schone collecting 46 write in votes.
Ketola will be filling the seat currently held by William Koosmann, who did not seek another term.
Town of Springfield
Only incumbent were on the ballot in the Town of Springfield in last Tuesdays election. Here Dean Fayerweather got 92 votes for Chairman and for the two Supervisor seats, Jim Mahoney got 82 votes and Barry Ketchum collected 72 votes.
Town of Glenwood
In the Township of Glenwood, incumbent town officers were the only candidates on the Spring Election ballot. Mark Maes got 106 votes for Town Chairman while side board members, Rick Obermueller collected 110 votes and Barry Peterson received 97.
Lori Obermueller was returned as Town Clerk with 117 votes and Audrey Maes as Town Treasurer with 112 votes.
Town of Emerald
Here as was the case in several area municipalities, only incumbents were on the Spring Ballot. Henry Hurtgen was returned as Town Chairman with 91 votes and the two Supervisor seats were return to Tom Wink and Francis Klatt with 83 and 85 votes respectively.
Lorelei Wink was returned as Town Clerk with 95 votes and Cheryl Slind as Town Treasurer with 96 votes.
Village of Wilson
Patricia Evans collected 20 votes to be returned as Village President and Amanda Millermon also got 20 votes for Village Trustee.
Town of Stanton
In the Dunn County township of Stanton, incumbent Town Chairman Bob Anderson was re-elected over Tim Mittlestadt by a vote count of 141 to 70, while Karl Hackbarth and Steven Nielsen retained their Town Board seats over Joshua Edhlund. The vote count was Hackbarth, 140; Nielsen, 138; and Edhlund, 79.
Town of Hay River
There were no contests for offices in the town of Hay River. Here Russell Hitz was returned as Town Chairman with 80 votes. For Supervisor Cindy Hoff and Ned Hahn were re-elected with81 and 79 votes respectively, as were Michelle Drury as Town Clerk and Susan Hitz as Town Treasurer.
Town of New Haven
Electors returned town officials in the Spring Election last Tuesday. They are: Marv Prestrud as Town Chair. He collected 89 votes while Jeffery Carlsrud and Tom Schoonover as Town Board Supervisors with 92 and 90 votes respectively. Mark Bartz was returned as Town Treasurer. The Town Clerk in New Haven is an appointed position.
Town of Sheridan
As with many other municipalities, only current office holders were on the Spring Election ballot. Here David Bartlett was returned as Town Chairman and were Larry Amble and Peter Score as Town Board Supervisors. Bartlett and Amble each received 69 votes while Score collected 66.
Town of Sherman
Chase Potter got 147 for the top spot on the Town Board with 146 votes. Paul Heifner with 151 votes and Amanda Klosterman with 144 votes were re-elected Supervisors in the Town of Sherman.
Town of Tiffany
Here only incumbents were on the Spring Ballot last Tuesday. Chuck Siler received 86 votes for Town Chairman, Lee Kegan for supervisor number one with 96 votes and Steve Boyd for Supervisor number two with 91 votes.
Village of Downing
The following were re-elected at last Tuesday’s election. Gregery Holden as Village President who received 38 votes and Jim Luepke as Village trustee with 41 votes.
Jennifer Lagerstrom for Village Clerk and Laura Lee as Village Treasurer.
Village of Wheeler
Voters returned Stephens as Village President and Lillian Milune as Village Trustee, with each receiving 25 votes.
Village of Knapp
In the Village of Knapp, all incumbents were running unopposed for another term on the Village Board. They are Georgene Close as Village President receiving 73 votes. The three members of the board were Agene Lemke, Ramona Sobottka and Tony Sobottka with vote of 66, 52 and 58 respectively.
