West CAP launches the Wisconsin Emergency Rental Assistance Program (WERA) for West Central Wisconsin

West CAP is now providing financial assistance for housing rent, mobile home lot rent, and security deposits for eligible residents of Pierce, Pepin, St. Croix, Dunn, Chippewa, Barron, Polk, Washburn, and Burnett counties in west central Wisconsin.  Funding is available for area residents who meet the following criteria:

• Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a significant reduction in income, incurred significant costs, or experienced financial hardship during the period of the COVID-19 public health emergency.

• Demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability; and

• Has a household income at or below 80 percent of their county’s median income.

Funding for this program comes from the Coronavirus Relief Bill enacted by the federal government last December.  This bill included $25 Billion for emergency rental relief, and Wisconsin received over $322 million of these funds.  For more information or to apply for this or other assistance, go to www.westcap.org or call us at 715-265-4271.

West CAP, a 501c3 non-profit established in 1965, was one of the first community action agencies in the United States.  With offices located in Glenwood City and Menomonie Wisconsin, West CAP works to promote the sustainability of low-income families and communities in west central Wisconsin.

This company offers such a wonderful and heartfelt concern for people experiencing a genuine hardship. They give the community hope. And that’s something that’s been lost in today’s day and age. Thank you for listening!

I was just diagnosed with cancer and have a monthly bill for one of my chemo pills, also my rent went up $70 a month and with the heat I had to use my AC. My utility bill needs money, I just need a helping hand with a bit for rent and utilities. And/or.
