WHEELER — Two candidates are running for one position on the Wheeler Village Board in the April 7 election.
The candidates are Janice Gjelhaug and Ryan Marten.
The Tribune Press Reporter sent out questionnaires to the candidates.
Here are Janice Gjelhaug’s answers to the questionnaire.
• What is your occupation?
Claims processor.
• Why did you decide to run for election?
I decided to run because we live in an awesome community and I want to do my part to keep Wheeler great!
• What makes you suited to serve on the village board?
I have been on numerous committees throughout my work experience. I have always had the confidence to speak up and lead, and I have always been honest and fair in decision making.
• What issues do you see as being the most important for Wheeler?
Within Wheeler I believe it’s twofold. I would like to not only explore business development but also explore developing programs/events to enrich our lives. We need development to grow and generate income, jobs, etc. As with any growth however, we cannot lose sight of the most important asset we have, the people who live here, which is why community programs and events are just as important.
• Why are you the best candidate?
My mission is to bring my honesty, fairness, creativity, commitment to the board and make a good town better!
• What else would you like people to know?
I care about this town and I care about the people in it. Together we will thrive!
