Weekly Recognition
for the week of
February 24-28, 2020
1. On Wednesday, February 26th, five FCCLA chapter members traveled to UW-Stout for the 2020 FCCLA regional competition. Four members competed in different STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events. MAKAYLA SINA and SAKI MUROFUSHI competed in Interpersonal Communication as a team earning a silver award. ZOE CHRISTMAS competed in Teach and Train earning a bronze award. Lastly, LEAH MAGSAM competed in Professional Presentation earning a silver award. Additionally, ALEXIS ALBRECHT participated by being a room consultant for various events. All five students are currently having their project evaluated, and if their project receives a high enough score, they are eligible to compete again at the state competition.
2. MCKENNA PHALIN for portraying a wonderful “Nurse” with an excellent mask during her Romeo and Juliet scene.
3. ANNIKA BAUMAN for putting in countless hours of ACT practice.
4. NOAH BRITE, MARCUS GLUEGE, OWEN BAUMAN, MALI DRAXLER, and DEVYNN OLSON for getting 100% or higher on the last Geometry Quiz.
5. ALLY MOTZ for demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities in her role as Art Club president. She stops by daily to offer assistance in any way she can, and is always upbeat and positive. I am thankful to have such a self-motivated student as the head of our officer team!
6. Glenwood City High School freshman, BROOKLYN CARESS, had her artwork chosen as a Nasco Arts and Crafts award recipient at the State Capitol Youth Art Month exhibit in Madison this past week. Each year, the Wisconsin Art Educators Association hosts Youth Art Month by soliciting artwork from across the state in order to display in the Capitol rotunda. Over five hundred pieces of art are displayed for the general public to view; artists range in age from kindergarten through twelfth grade. “Polar Bear Mosaic,” made completely of magazine page clippings, was chosen as one of the best in show. Congratulations goes out to Brooklyn on this amazing accomplishment!
