Elk Mound High School hosted the 2020 Dunn/St. Croix All Conference Honors Band and Choir Festival on Saturday, February 1st.
In 1979, the idea to bring together the finest musicians of the Dunn-St. Croix Conference to form the Honors Choir and Honors Band became a reality. Since the beginning, the philosophy was to have students from different schools work together toward a common goal of cooperation and excellence, rather than only competing against each other on an athletic field.
Members of the honors groups are chosen based on student’s achievements through their involvement in musical activities and their director’s recommendations.
In recent years, the Honors Project has had the privilege of having a guest conductor work with one of the groups, alternating between band choir every other year. This year, Dr. Erika Svanoe served as the Honors Band Director and Clinician. Dr. Svanoe is the Director of Bands at Augsburg College.
