COLFAX — The School District of Colfax will be hosting a Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the Colfax High School gymnasium. The public is invited to attend. The theme for the Veterans Day poster is: “Service.” Veterans contribute to American society in many ways; not just during their time on active duty. The month of November is honoring National Veterans and Military Families.
The guest speaker will be Colfax High School and U.W. Wisconsin Madison USAF ROTC graduate, retired U.S. Air Force pilot, Lt. Col. Todd Berge. Lt. Col. Berge selected to fly the A-10 Warthog flying 22 combat sorties in support of Operation Southern Watch. Lt. Col. Berge was then selected for the highly prestigious B-2 Stealth Bomber program where he served in many high profile leadership positions.
In addition, we will be having a flag pole dedication in honor of our Vietnam Veterans. The flag pole was donated by Sally Johnson, of Colfax in memory of her husband, the late Pete Johnson, a proud Vietnam Veteran.
Our elementary students will sing patriotic songs and the middle school and high school bands along with our high school choir will perform as well. Cookies and coffee will be available for veterans and visitors after the program. Our veterans will receive a special gift of thanks as well. We hope to see you there!
