SPRING VALLEY — Molly Heidorn has been a diamond in the rough for the Colfax girls’ cross country team and the freshman runner proved it last Thursday as she won the 2019 Dunn-St. Croix individual conference championship at Spring Valley High School.
Heidorn covered the tough 5,000 meter course in 20:35.4 which was an amazing 24 seconds quicker than runner-up Bella Simons of Glenwood City in the October 17 conference championship.
“Heidorn become the sixth Colfax girl to win an individual conference title,” said Colfax head coach Joe Doucette. “She joins some elite company in winning the race that she led from start to finish. Becoming only the second freshmen to win the D-SC race and join Division 1 athlete Sarah McMahon.”
Freshman Ansley Olson and sophomore Jasmine Best had nice runs in Spring Valley as well. They took ninth and 16th place, respectively. Olson finished with a time of 22:23.8 and Best crossed the finish line with a time of 23:02.8.
