HUDSON — The Colfax Lady Vikes’ volleyball team took to the court and road for a tournament in Hudson this past Saturday, September 14.
Colfax went unbeaten and finished 4-0 in matches against Hudson, Prescott, Superior and Bloomer.
“We started the day by defeating Hudson in two sets,” said Colfax head coach Pam Meredith.
Hudson fell to the Vikings by scores of 25-12 and 25-13. Colfax also swept Prescott in two sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-13, and Superior in two sets as well by scores of 25-15 and 25-14.
Kameri Meredith led the Vikings for the day in kills with 27, two of which came in the last set against Bloomer followed by an ace for the match point.
Colfax played Bloomer for the championship of the Hudson Invitational.
The Vikings lost in the first set 22-25 due to seven missed serves but rebounded to take the next two sets and title with wins of 25-14 and 17-15.
Sam Pretasky and Rachel Scharlau also added to the kills with 23 and 16, Taylor Irwin led in aces and digs with 10 and 34 respectively.
“Set two we limited our serving errors and also finished with 12 kills to take the win over Bloomer,” said Coach Meredith. “Set three was a barn burner as we were up 11-7 and Bloomer fought back to pull in the lead 12-11 on two uncontested kills, a hitting error and two serve receive errors by us.”
Addy Olson was right behind Irwin in digs with 22 and Jozie Buchanan led the offense with 62 assists.
Colfax hosted Somerset last evening, Tuesday, and will continue their home stand on Thursday, September 19, with the conference opener against Elmwood/Plum City. The Vikings get a day’s respite before traveling to Cameron for an invitational this Sturday, September 21 followed by a D-SC road game in Glenwood City next Tuesday, September 24.
