Thomas J. Dunbar

Thomas J. Dunbar, 82, of Colfax, passed away after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathy, sons Paul (Kristin) and Michael, as well as grandchildren Thomas and Jordan.

Tom grew up in Colfax as the only child of the late Leon and Doris (Braaten) Dunbar. After attending Colfax High School, he graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1966 and served in the US Air Force until 1970. Following military service, he worked in banking and finance for many years and finished his career enjoying interactions with college students at the UW-Stout Instructional Resource Service.

Tom was a 55-year member of the Russell-Toycen American Legion Post 131, serving 23 of those years as Commander. Every summer, he spearheaded the Post’s pride and joy event – The Colfax Free Fair.

Tom’s warm welcoming hugs will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Life will be held at The Viking Bowl, Thursday, September 11, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. with military rites occurring at 3:00 p.m.
