I thought the election was over!
By the looks of the information and mail pieces I am receiving daily it looks like the election is just a few days away.
I have been over loaded with political advertising each day whenever I look at my emails or go to the post office. First it’s several pieces critical of President Trump and of course the abortion issue is still out in front of us. There are a couple of letters to the editor this week highlighting those two issues.
Then came the warning that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is set to run for the United States Senate. With Walz seeking a seat in the senate, that aught to make Republicans shutter. Of course the email that I received did not call him Governor Walz, but instead “Tampon Tim.”
Then I got a notice from a person that is running against Ilhan Omar. Omar is a Somali-born American Politician serving as the Representative in Congress from Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which is mostly the city of Minneapolis.
The piece stated this, “I thought Islamic Extremists were behind me when I moved to America, with Ilhan Omar in office, it turns out I was wrong. My name is Dalia. I’m running for Congress against Ilhan Omar the most Anti-American, radical member of Congress.
“If you don’t know me, I was born in Iraq. I saw violence, terrorism, and radicalism. The best day of my life was when I became an American. We cannot have someone who hates this country, be allowed to run it. Radical left groups are pouring millions into this district to keep Ilhan around. They know she’s the most rabid attack dog for the left, so they won’t let her lose.
“But I have a secret weapon, real Americans like you.”
The rest of the advertisement is just a request for funding of her campaign. But what puzzled me is how does a person running for a Minnesota Representative have an office that is located on Sixth Street in Hudson, Wisconsin.
President Trump appears to have turned his back on Ukraine over the invasion by Russia that has taken the lives of more than a million people. Trump wants to stop the war, even if Ukraine does not support any agreement that they are not part of.
Now we have Elon Musk (I don’t have to explain who he is) planning to campaign in Wisconsin for Brad Schimel who is seeking a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court. There will be $1.6 million spent on TV ads promoting Schimel. This Supreme Court election is on April 1st with incumbent justice Ann Walsh Bradley, who is retiring after 30 years on the court. Bradley has been identified as a liberal and has voted with the liberals 4-3 on the court, meaning the outcome of this election will decide the ideological majority of the court for at least the next year.
Schimel, who has served as Wisconsin Attorney General and currently, is Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge, and his opponent for the ten-year term on the state’s Supreme Court is Susan Crawford who currently is Dane County Circuit Court Judge.
But there are other offices up for election on April 1st including whom we choose as members for all local town, village, city, and school board members. So get involved and plan to vote April 1st.
Thanks for reading! ~Carlton
