Ernest Vernon Prinsen

Ernest (Ernie) Vernon Prinsen, 70, of Emerald, passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2025, at his home.

Born on June 20, 1954, to Wilmar and Marcella Prinsen at Holy Family Hospital in New Richmond, WI, Ernie attended Glenwood City schools until midway through his freshman year in 1969. He worked on the family farm and later joined United Refrigeration at eighteen, staying until the company closed in 1976. In January 1977, he began working for Nor-Lake in Hudson, WI, where he remained until his retirement in 2014.

Ernie met Sherri Goossens in 1974, and they married in June 1976, raising three children together. An avid outdoorsman, Ernie loved hunting, fishing, and gardening. After retiring, he found joy in running his garage sale, cherishing the visits from those who came to chat or search for treasures.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, Wilmar and Marcella Prinsen; his two eldest brothers, Arnold and Alan Prinsen; and his best friend, Daryl Goossens. He is survived by his brothers, Leon (Judy) Prinsen, Carl Prinsen, and Randy (Dawn) Prinsen; his children, Jarod (Sarah) Prinsen, Venessa (Matthew) Komorouski, and Steffanie (Jason Anez) Prinsen; and his grandchildren, Chloe, Bo, Abbiegale, Candice, and step-grandchildren, Shaelyn and Taylor Olson.
