Shellayne “Shelly” K. Nelson

Shellayne “Shelly” K. Nelson, age 77 formerly of Boyceville, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Clark County Rehab & Living Center in Owen, WI.

Shellayne was born April 3, 1947 in Menomonie to Morris and Catherine (Brown) Evenson.  She graduated from Boyceville High School in 1965. On June 24, 1978 she married Edward “Ed” Nelson in Boyceville.

Shelly had a caring and loving soul. A mother of 4 and grandmother of 6 and great grandmother of 1. She was a homemaker and entrepreneur with lots of tenacity. Shelly and Eddy had dairy cows, and oh, how she adored those cows. They also had a strawberry farm just outside of Boyceville that kept them busy while they raised their family.

Some of her hobbies included arts, crafts, ceramics, gardening, bird watching and listening and singing to music. She liked watching westerns (especially Clint Eastwood) and later on in life she enjoyed watching Tiger Woods play golf.

She was an animal lover with many special doggy companions including her chihuahua, Bambi. Shelly always looked forward to and enjoyed her Caribou Coffee dates & shopping trips with her daughter, Rebekah.

Shelly is survived by her children Bill (Mckenzi) Edquist, John (Marie) Genrich, Julie Nelson and Rebekah (Luke) Strutt; grandchildren Brandon Genrich, Riley Edquist, Devin Nelson, Colten Stoner, Alexis Lopez and Jhett Johnson; great grandchild Madelyn Swager; siblings Betty Evenson, Cindy (John) Humple, Gary (Joy) Evenson, Gail (Steve) Kothlow, James “Jimmy” (Lori) Evenson and Chris Evenson;  she is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward.

The family extends many thanks to Inclusa for their assistance over the past few years and a special thank you to the staff at Clark County Rehab for their wonderful care for Shelly.  Your love and compassion for her will never be forgotten.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Teresa Pejsa officiating.  There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will take place at Tiffany Cemetery in Boyceville.
