Linda Lee Troutman Wood

Linda Lee Troutman-Wood (nee Lichtenberg) aged 84 years of Glenwood City, WI was called home to be with Our Lord on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Lindstrom Senior Living in Lindstrom, MN. A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2025 at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson, Indiana. Grandstrand Funeral Home and Park Place Church of God pastoral staff are assisting with the arrangements.

Linda was born to Bessie (nee Davis) and Hugo Lichtenberg in Mankato, MN on December 15th, 1939. She was the youngest of four children. She enjoyed being a band and choir member, as well as competing with the Scarlets synchronized swimming team for Mankato West High School. Summers spent at the family cottage on Lake Ballantyne were some of her fondest memories as a child. She graduated from high school in 1957. A year later Linda married David Dawson Troutman in June of 1958 at the Church of God in Montevideo, MN. Her father-in-law, Reverend D. R. Troutman officiated the wedding service. The newlyweds moved to Anderson, Indiana where they would live and start their family while David finished his degree at Anderson College. They were blessed with two sons, Mark and Randy, and a daughter Dawn.

In 1967, they moved to Glenwood City, WI and David would start his teaching, coaching, and school administration career there. She was a loving wife and mother, as well as an accomplished homemaker. Linda engaged in many activities within the community. Some will remember her as their Sunday School teacher or United Methodist Church choir member. Others as their swimming teacher, lifeguard, 4-H leader. She worked as a clerk for DeCamp’s Furniture Store until the Troutman family purchased the Hemness and DeSmith Grocery Store in 1977. They owned and operated Troutman’s IGA until 1985.

In February of 1989, tragedy struck when David perished in a car accident. Linda persevered even through such loss. She became a teacher’s aide for students with additional needs and disabilities at Glenwood City High School. Later she would attend the University of Wisconsin – Stout in Menomonie, WI to earn her teaching degree. She would graduate with honors in May of 1998 at the age of 59. She taught at Glenwood City and then Somerset, WI school systems until her retirement. On October 6, 2001, Linda married Richard (Dick) Arnold Wood at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glenwood City. They were married for 18 years until Dick’s passing in 2019.

Linda’s faith and love will live on in her children; sons Mark (Dawn) Troutman of Amery, WI, and Randy (Dawn) Troutman of Tacoma, WA, and daughter Dawn (Steve) Buchholz of Stacy, MN. She was also blessed by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, stepchildren, step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, half-brothers, nieces and nephews.

Hers was a life well lived, full of kindness and compassion. That smile and infectious laughter will live on in our hearts, always.
