October is bursting with excitement for everyone! Join us on October 10 at 6:00 p.m. for a delightful evening with Dr. Andrea Zevenbergen as she guides us through “Teaching Young Children about Emotions During Shared Book Learning.” The first 30 lucky families will snag a fab book kit to take home! Plus, we’ll be serving up delicious pizza and refreshments, with childcare covered—talk about a win-win!
But wait, there’s more! Our library is getting festive with Harvest in the Hills, featuring a pie-baking showdown and an outdoor screening of the hilarious Hotel Transylvania. Swing by the library to grab the pie contest rules—there are trophies and cash prizes up for grabs for our top three bakers!
And to wrap up this spooktacular month, don’t miss our Book Tasting Event, where food, fun, games, prizes, and, of course, books come together in a glorious celebration! Just remember to reserve your seat for this literary feast!
Special Events–
October 10, 6:00 p.m. – Teaching Young Children about Emotions During Shared Book Learning. This event will teach parents and guardians how to have conversations about emotions with their preschooler or kindergartner, using shared picture book reading. Picture story books that explore the topics of sadness and anxiety in engaging, yet sensitive, ways will serve as the basis for these conversations around emotions. Each family that attends the event will receive a free set of four picture books, including Taco Falls Apart and Avocado Feels a Pit Worried. Parents will also be given a brochure that summarizes the shared picture book reading strategies, as a reminder of ways to share the books with children at home. Each family will also receive a book for parents that talks about how to have conversations with children about mental health. Pizza and refreshments will be provided Child Care provided
October 15 – 10:00-12:00 p.m. Free Blood Pressure Check
October 19 – 4:00 p.m. Pie Check In – Harvest in the Hills Pie Baking Contest. Rules for the contest can be picked up at the Glenwood City Public Library. There will be trophies handed out for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place winners.
October 21 – 2:30 p.m. Spud Mobile
October 24 – 6:00 p.m. – Book Tasting. We will have food, refreshments, games and so many books. Please reserve your seat by October 14.
Monday Craft Night – Monday’s from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Our Monday Craft Night is open to all ages. If you are unable to attend and would like to try these projects at home please call and we will be happy to give you the recipe/instructions. These are free events, pictures might be taken during the craft for our Facebook Page, and children under 8 should be accompanied by an adult.

St. Croix Traveling Book Club – Join friends from around St. Croix County! Each month a different library is hosting a book discussion at one of their local restaurants. Dinner is at 6:00 and book discussion starts at 6:30.
