Roger H. Lindelof

Roger H. Lindelof

Roger H. Lindelof, Age 76 passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20th, 2024, at Mayo Hospital in Menomonie with family by his side.

Roger Hadley Lindelof was born on September 30th, 1947 in Auburn, California, of parents Bernard and Eveline Lindelof. The family eventually moved to the family homestead in Oulu, WI where he attended South Shore High School, and graduated in 1965. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior where he obtained his professional teaching license. In later years, he obtained his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

Upon graduation, Roger moved to Glenwood City to take a position as the 7th grade History and English teacher. He remained in that role for the entirety of his career which spanned 36 years, and then went on to substitute teach in retirement at both the Clear Lake and Clayton school districts. He always enjoyed running into former students and catching up, remembering specific details and stories of their time in his class. Roger was a man of faith and was very active in his church.

Growing up in Northern, WI, Roger gained an appreciation for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, and guiding on the famed Brule River which he did for many years. The annual Canadian fishing trip with close family and friends was a yearly highlight in which he would look forward to. Roger liked to keep busy and never let lasting effects from his bout with Polio in 1953, keep him from enjoying his many passions.

Roger met Mina Nielsen in Auburn California through friends, and they got married in 1976. On March 15th, 1988 Roger and Mina grew the family and welcomed a son, John Hadley Lindelof. Although home was Glenwood City, as much time as possible was spent at the family cabin on Deep Lake in Iron River, WI. Roger hosted many family get-togethers here, and it remains a favorite family gathering spot today.

Roger was never short on stories and had a deep appreciation for literature and poetry, always having a good book nearby. He was known to author many sermons, poems, short stories, and even a novel. Roger was knowledgeable on a broad field of subjects and some of his favorites were classic cars, classic country western music, history and genealogy. He was extremely proud of his Scandinavian heritage and he kept contact with many distant relatives over the years. He was prouder yet of his father Bernard’s service in WWII, and spoke of it often.

Roger is survived by his Son, John (Alexandra) Lindelof; his brother David (Patti) Lindelof; grandchildren Ruby and Jack Lindelof; nephew Luke Lindelof; and nieces Erika Suo, Nina Olson, and Molly Reijo; as well as many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bernard and Eveline Lindelof, sister Katherine (Taffy)Reijo; Aunts Dagney and Engla; uncles Kermit, Stanley, Melvin, Mervin, Norvel, Leonard, Herbert, and Erland.

So very sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. He was a good friend to my husband, his cousin Carl ( deceased) and I. We enjoyed the times we were encouraged to bring our camper to Deep Lake and enjoy the beauty and reminisce about childhood adventures there.
