David “Doc” C. Frogner

David C. Frogner, age 93 of Colfax passed away Friday, August 2, 2024 at Colfax Senior Living.

David was born December 22, 1930 in Menomonie to Conrad and Alvina (Grambo) Frogner. He was baptized at St. Katherine’s Lutheran Church (Beyer Settlement) and confirmed at Colfax Lutheran Church where he was a lifelong member.
On August 21, 1951 he married Ethel “Ecky” Sykora at Cooks Valley. He was blessed to be married to the love of his life for 70 years.

David attended school in Colfax, graduating in 1948. He spent a few years operating his parents dairy farm in the town of Elk Mound. He enrolled in pre-dentistry at Eau Claire and River Falls Colleges, then entered the school of dentistry at the University of Minnesota graduating in 1958 with honors. He purchased the practice of Dr. W.R. Brooks and retired after 34 years of practice in Colfax.

Throughout his life he served several times on the church council and on the Colfax School Board. He was Master twice of Masonic Lodge #164 in Menomonie and chaplain; a 32nd degree member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Eau Claire and 15th degree team for many years. David was a lifetime member of the Mehara Shrine Club and chaplain for an extended amount of time. He was a member of Zor Shrine of Madison and drove the mini cars for The Tin Lizzies for several years which support the Shrine Hospitals for crippled and burned children. He was also proud to be involved in a Mayo Clinic drug research trial for prostate cancer patients.

David enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the NRA. He especially enjoyed the time spent at their cabin and with friends on Barber Lake in Winter, WI. He was always thankful to God for his family and friends and the life he was given to live.

David is survived by his son Lee Frogner, daughter Lynn Berg, grandsons’ Aaron (Gail) Frogner, Matthew (Rebecca) Berg and Joel (Alissa) Berg and a granddaughter; great grandchildren Mitchel (Lex) Berg, Noah Berg, Reed, Rayna, Trajan and Summer Kaeppe; his sister Mary (Glenn) Bowlin. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ecky, his parents Conrad and Alvina, his sister Norma (Norman “Snort”) Gilberts and nephew Thomas Bowlin.

A Masonic Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. by Masonic Lodge #164 with Funeral Services to follow on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Colfax Lutheran Church with Pastor Jordan Herrick officiating. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Colfax. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. A luncheon will follow the services at The Valley Tavern.
