Olympic Participants showed their sportsmanship!

I spent many hours watching the Summer Olympics that took place over 16 days in Paris. There were no protests by those athletes that took part in the games and they all showed their sportsmanship in their play.

Event after event I watched as those that were vanquished came forward and offered congratulations to the victors.

We all can be proud of those who took part in the games and France did an out standing job in making this event great.

As for the medal count China and the United States lead with forty gold medals each, but the U.S. totaled 126 medals to China’s 91. There were 84 countries whose athletes won a medal.

Another matter is the political mud slinging has already begun with the upcoming presidential election in November. Both vice presidential candidates, Senator J.D. Vance and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are coming under fire for things that they may have done in the past. Walz, for his handling of the burning of Minneapolis following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police officer.

Another item that will consume our attention this election cycle is the item that the New York Post featured Monday: “Former President Donald Trump is set to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages over the government’s unprecedented 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, with lawyers arguing it was done with ‘clear intent to engage in political persecution.’”

Most of us remember that two years ago the Feds raided Trump’s home over documents that he had in his position from when he was president with the Feds taking some of them into custody, and the government was set to haul Trump into court over what they found. But President Biden also had a warehouse full of federal papers that he collected from his time as Senator, Vice President and President. Some of the papers were in his open garage stored against his Corvette. He did not even need to put them under lock and key, nor was there any threat of court action.

Besides our election news and other things in the good old U.S.A. there is the ongoing trouble in the world. The war in Israel, the war in Ukraine and the unrest in Britain, has us all on edge if these will turn into another world war.

My only hope is that all of the participants that were in the Olympics take home the great friendships that were made in Paris, for the last 16 days, and that turns into a world peace mission.

Thanks for reading!     ~Carlton
