Donald Leier

Donald Leier born August 5, 1931, passed away August 5, 2024 on his 93rd Birthday. Don and his wife Genevieve moved to Glenwood City WI, in October 2003. Don was very involved in the Community. He loved going to the Community Center for coffee and Lunch to socialize with others.

Don was an Active Member of the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Grand Knight. 

Don also liked woodworking and making different type crafts for art fairs. He always thought of others, if it was buying gifts for birthdays or Christmas, or just stopping by to drop off special gifts for his kids. Don also loved to shop, if it was Menards, Fleet Farm, Kohls, Flower Shops, Garage Sales, etc. When he was out in the community he was always dressed to the best for all Occasions.

Also for many years he enjoyed playing Santa Claus in the Cities and around the community, he went to schools, nursing homes, and family get togethers as well.

After retiring from Xcel Energy (NSP) after 35 years, Don and his wife did a little traveling, with family and friends; they went on a cruise, Florida, Texas, and Mexico. They also loved to spend a night or two camping with the family at Jellystone Park.

Don passed away peacefully with his family by his side, after battling several months of illness. Don and his wife Genevieve were married 59 years.

Don is survived by his family: Tom (Patty Leier), Tim (Karen Leier), Nancy Obitz (John); grandchildren: Megan Berberich (Matthew), John Obitz, Matthew Leier, Derek Leier (Megan), Brandon Leier (Courtney – Fiancée), Brittany Obitz (Tyler – Fiancé), Taylor Obitz, Carley Leier (Matt – Fiancé); Great Grandchildren: Luella & Cullen Berberich and Little Leier Bud on the way.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glenwood City, WI, with Father John Long as celebrant. Burial will be in the Roselawn Cemetery at Roseville, MN. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 to 11:00 a.m.

Local arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Glenwood City, WI.
