Linda M. Dachel, 73, of New Auburn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at her home with her family at her bedside.
She was born January 7, 1951, in Eau Claire to Roderick and Ona (Erickson) Toycen. She went to Colfax High School and graduated in 1969. She then went on to nursing school at Eau Claire Vocational School.
On August 25, 1973, Linda married Eugene Dachel at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Tilden. The couple made their home in New Auburn since 1976 and had three children. Throughout her healthcare career, Linda worked in long-term care, pediatric home healthcare, and retired from L.E. Phillips Libertas Center after 19 years of dedicated service to St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Among her hobbies were antiquing, fishing, trivia, and spending time with grandchildren, family & friends. She enjoyed living in the country, caring for her flower gardens, and birdwatching. Everyone who knew Linda, knew about her love of chocolate and the color blue.
Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Eugene; three children, Ben (Melanie) Dachel of New Auburn, Jennifer (Shaun) Franklin of Hudsonville, MI, and Carrie (Michael) Stoffel of New Auburn; five grandchildren, Ava, Abram, Jacob, Emery, and Theodore; two brothers, Robert Toycen of Kent, WA, and Mark (Deb) Toycen of Colfax; and stepmother, Eldoris (Ellie) Toycen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Mi Toycen.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomer with Father Victor Feltes celebrating the mass. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home in Bloomer where there will be a Christian Vigil Service held at 7 p.m. to conclude the visitation. There will be no visitation prior to the funeral mass on Thursday. Private burial will be held at a later time at New Auburn Cemetery.
The family appreciates all the visitors who supported Linda with good company and food. We also express our thanks to the caregivers who made it possible to keep her at home and close to her family.
